Position Summary
The VP Business Development, East Coast Financial Services Practice will be responsible for helping to create and build an East Coast presence for M Squared Consulting and for developing on-going profitable relationships with new clients. You will build M Squared brand awareness through direct client development activities as well as through networking and marketing programs.
As the East Coast M Squared representative, you will utilize our experience and extensive consultant network to develop new client relationships, identify business opportunities, create project specifications, present consultants and close project business with prospective East Coast financial services clients. You will be responsible for Business Development calls with senior managers and key executives of banking, investment firms and insurance companies. Your current relationships and industry contacts will be the foundation for building your project business in your start up phase with M Squared.
This position reports to the Senior VP of our Financial Services Practice in San Francisco. We are seeking a candidate who resides within commuting distance of New York City. You will work virtually, out of a home office. Relocation expenses are not included. Travel will include periodic trips to our San Francisco offices and to client locations on the East Coast. M Squared is a team-based organization and encourages and rewards cooperation among all groups.
Essential Job Functions
Executive Level Business Development: Identify and prioritize prospects through networking, referrals and your direct sales and marketing activities. Develop value- add project opportunities and secure consultant engagements.
Account Development: Create and grow M Squared business in a select group of high potential accounts with the objective of developing them over time into major accounts billing > $2M annually.
Strategic Planning: Define and target key accounts and then develop the appropriate strategy, message and account plan to build the business.
Service Offering Knowledge: Translate past financial services selling experience to quickly learn the M Squared service offering and how it is delivered. Continuously update your knowledge related to all aspects of M Squared services: asking industry informed questions, uncovering client opportunities, writing comprehensive project specifications and proposals, understanding and managing consultant rates and pricing strategies, engagement management to deliver targeted results.
Marketing Activity: As appropriate, participate in marketing and networking efforts for the Practice Area (i.e., industry events, personal speaking engagements, professional associations, business roundtables, etc.) in the spirit of increasing awareness and growing the East Coast business.
Support Systems and Reporting: Utilize M Squared CRM, social networking and online research tools to enhance Business Development and marketing effectiveness and to record client data and track Business Development activities. Manage pipeline activities and report regularly on key Business Development performance indicators.
Essential Job Requirements
Strong, senior-level business development experience and a history of success in business-to-business environments for a minimum of ten years. Solid track-record of developing new client business with a services product. Demonstrated success with complex and strategic account business development, with examples of your business development process and proof sources of long term, consultative client relationships.
BS in Business or related field a must. MBA or equivalent preferred.
Deep expertise in the Financial Services sector, bringing experience and credibility to the M Squared service offering and to client facing activities. Business Development and/or management experience within the Financial Services sector or selling services to Financial Services companies is ideal.
Results oriented and entrepreneurial with a strong work ethic, tenacity and a persistent approach. Track record of achievement and success in a challenging new client development sales role are important credentials for this position.
Proven ability to play the lead role in developing and growing a new major account. Client references and major account results will be requested.
Business savvy with broad business and management knowledge and experience. Management experience would be a plus as you will be working on a peer-to-peer level with senior executives. We are looking for a problem solver who can respond quickly and creatively to challenges.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are a pre-requisite. A Project scoping exercise with a writing sample will be part of the selection process. A strong facility and consistent use of technology as a fundamental communications and operational tool is essential. A solid familiarity with the Internet, business development contact management software, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are minimum requirements.

Position Summary
The Executive Assistant is a vital role within our rapidly growing Strategic Solutions Group. The group is dynamic and high energy, and focuses on our Global Technology clients. The assistant will be a key liaison between our Vice President of Business Development, our internal staff, clients and consultants. Through thoughtful, efficient and creative problem solving, the assistant will provide exceptional service and remain focused on solutions. The VP works at a fast pace and is driven with a sense of urgency inherent in what we deliver to all of our clients. The ability to be organized, prioritize and multi-task are important to success in this role.
While this position has all of the needs of a typical strong executive assistant supporting senior management, there is also potential for growth and deeper involvement in the business.
The Role and Responsibilities
Support the VP in all aspects of her role with a focus on client satisfaction
- Work with VP/clients/consultants to manage VP’s calendar, voicemail and email
- Schedule, coordinate and execute:
- Client Appointments

- Read all emails and route as necessary during the day

- Serve as a primary point of contact for others communicating with the VP when she is in the field without access to email or cell phone. Manage logistics of calls and emails as necessary. Get others what they need.
- Write email and letter drafts for internal and external clients

- Call VP when needed for clarification
- Organize and Manage VP’s priorities and interfaces

A successful Executive Assistant should have strength in the following areas:
- Communications
- Savvy communicator with impeccable interpersonal skills; outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid listening skills for detail, accuracy and follow-through
- Ability to ask the right questions to ensure clarity and effectiveness of communication
- Ability to navigate across a variety of platforms like Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, but also systems that do not “talk” to each other like our internal applicant tracking system.
- Advanced skills in Word and Excel. Knowledge of PPT is a plus. Ability to do pivot tables in Excel is a plus. Ability to learn new databases and become a “power-user” is also a plus.
- Organization and Delivery
- Proficiency in extensive calendaring, including interacting with senior clients in a professional manner
- Consistent and strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and proactive skills.
- Ability to complete time-sensitive tasks while managing and attending to frequent critical interruptions.
- Multi-tasking is essential
- Many ideas, initiatives, programs, etc. are discussed in meetings requiring research, investigation, analysis, etc. They need to be prioritized and when given to other team members require follow-up to ensure completion.
- Task tracking is also required. The assistant is frequently copied on emails and conversations with others and needs to develop a system to circle back and make sure that the action items of others have been accomplished.
- Comfortable with ambiguity as well as accountability for results
- Strong sense of urgency including the ability to meet or exceed deadlines, set priorities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, as needed.

Background
Must have
- Undergraduate degree in business-related field
- Minimum of eight years of experience in support/administration in a corporate setting, within a business development function is very helpful.
- Strong proficiency in using technology, including the ability to query databases, an understanding of MS Office (including advanced Excel which would include the use of pivot tables, Word and Outlook skills).
- Working knowledge of Salesforce.com or related customer relationship management software a plus
