M Squared History: Bringing Consultants & Companies Together Since 1988

Marion McGovern and Paula Reynolds founded M Squared Consulting, Inc., in 1988 to deliver consulting solutions to clients in a unique, high-value way. The business concept emerged from McGovern’s work at Booz Allen Hamilton, where she witnessed firsthand how clients turned to consulting companies for solutions that she recognized could be better delivered by targeted experts or small teams. Seasoned consultants—rather than recently graduated MBAs with little on-the-job experience—not only brought stronger, more direct expertise and proven execution skills to a business problem, but also provided much greater value to the client company.

Over the years, M Squared has been featured on NBC News, in Fortune, Fast Company, and Red Herring magazines, and included in the book Job Shift by renowned workplace expert Bill Bridges and in a study on the virtual workplace by Harvard Business School Professor Jeff Bradach.

Throughout its history, M Squared has continued to adapt its offerings and approach in innovative ways to better meet clients’ changing needs.
